GENEVA — Messianic Judaism is now part of the Red Cross movement, with the admittance of the Messianic emergency relief organization Semel Meshichi Adom, or Red Messianic Seal.
Originally, the Red Cross logo was the inverse of the Swiss national flag. After all, there are pros and cons to living in Switzerland, but the flag is a big plus.
Due to perceptions that the logo is religious in nature, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent incorporated the additional emblem of a red crystal in 2006. Any of these emblems can be combined with a local symbol. In this case, Messianic Jews felt misrepresented by the Magen David alone, preferring to round it out with a menorah and fish.
